NEURAL NETWORK ALGORITHM OF VESSEL’S DRIFT SPEED PREDICTION
(pp. 11-17)

Abstract. The problem of vessel's drift speed prediction appears while caring out dead reckoning. Traditional methods of evaluating speed of drift are based on the use of differential equations, that requires calculations of their right hands. These calculations are made using certain analytical dependencies and may be inadequate to the real motion of the ship. In conjunction with this fact the problem of development of new methods, which not require explicit force calculations is actual. In the article approach to the vessel’s drift prediction neural network system construction is considered. Forces influencing ship hull in its motion in wind and wave environmental conditions are given to the neural net input. Methodology of organization of natural experiment for collecting training data set for neural network is proposed. Testing of network is performed on basis of imitation model of ship motion. The results of neural network testing in different navigational situations corresponding certain values of control and disturbance influences are performend in the paper.
